Hermannsburg Potters’ artists have collaborated together for 'Clay on Country' exhibition presented by Artback NT to create a large pot and accompanying animation which tell stories surrounding weather and seasons on Western Aranda Country.
The work provides a glimpse into the artists’ profound knowledge of and connection to Country.
The animation depicts the various animals, abundant bird life, reptiles and plants that can be found at different times throughout the year. Over 6 months, artists painted each scene onto terracotta tiles using underglazes in Hermannsburg Potters’ distinct style.
